About IP Democracy |
|
IP Democracy is a blog written and maintained by Cynthia Brumfield, President of Emerging Media Dynamics. Although IP Democracy started out as a forum for analyzing the intersection of technology (with "IP" representing Internet protocol) and policy, given my background as a communications and media industry analyst, IP Democracy quickly became a forum for whatever issue I find interesting, newsworthy or absurd in the Internet, cable, telco, wireless, publishing, content and technology businesses. Along the way, the blog has developed a modest following. I'm stuck with the name of IP Democracy. Still, this site still has a public, legislative and judicial tilt when it comes to the communications issues of the day. Feedback is great, so drop me a line at cynthia@emediadynamics.com. My Background I'm a media and communications industry analyst who runs a small consulting, publishing and events firm, Emerging Media Dynamics. I got my start as a Director of Research at The Media Institute, a small non-profit media research and independent think tank devoted, mostly, to First Amendment issues. I then spent 12 years as the Vice President of Research and Policy Analysis at the National Cable & Telecommunications Association, a great gig that gave me priceless grounding in every form of media research, public policy matters and industry economics. Following my time at NCTA, I served as a Senior Analyst at pioneering media research and analysis firm, Paul Kagan Associates, Inc. After launching and selling a successful consulting and publishing firm, I formed Emerging Media Dynamics, which hosts conferences, publishes reports and online information resources and consults with top-tier media companies. |
