IP Democracy: Local Politician Wants to Outlaw Unprotected Wi-Fi
Courtesy of TechDirt, a Westchester County, NY politician wants to outlaw open Wi-Fi connections from any commercial enterprise. County Executive Andy Spano has proposed a law that would require businesses with Wi-Fi connections to provide “secure networks that protect the public from potential identity theft and other potential threats such as computer viruses and data corruption.” The business would have to file a notice of compliance with local authorities.
