IP Democracy: More Details on the Internet Video Policy Symposium

A few weeks back I mentioned that my company and Reed Business Information, publisher of Variety, Multichannel News, Broadcasting & Cable and other publications, would be jointly co-hosting an event in Washington aimed at government officials. This event, the Internet Video Policy Symposium, now has a web site with more details on what we're doing and why.

In particular, we've put up a preliminary agenda that tries to cover in one day a panorama of key conflicts, issues and policy questions that are growing larger as Internet video wipes out a lot of distinctions that are the basis for intellectual property laws, communications regulation and government policies regarding the Internet. I invite everybody to take a look and give me feedback on what we're planning to discuss and let me know what you think.

This is an innovative effort and I welcome suggestions, thoughts and criticism as we proceed. I'll be back with more information as the Symposium evolves. I've already reached out to a select group of advisors (but I've still got more folks waiting to hear back from me!) and am giving some of the key players in Washington a "heads-up" about what we're doing and our goals for the event. Drop me a line at cynthia at ipdemocracy.com or twitter me. You could go the old-fashioned route and call me at 240-235-1994.

Stay tuned.
