IP Democracy: White House to Save 480 Trees/Year with eBudget

The White House will release the government's first-ever paperless budget on February 4, saving an estimated 480 trees from literally getting axed. Although the White House has issued electronic versions of the 2,200-page budget before, it has, until now, also distributed 3,000 print copies of to White House staff, Congress and the media, which has called for the felling of around 480 trees.

The new budget will be posted by the OMB and if anyone so happens to want a print version, they can order it from agency. The cost savings to the government add up to only around $1 million over the next five years, or an average of $417 per tree (assuming a total of 2,400 trees over five years).
