Fight Between CDT and EFF over Broadcast Flag

digitalcopyright.gifThe Center for Democracy and Technology and the Electronic Frontier Foundation have long been allies on matters of protecting the public’s acccess to content. But they have parted ways over CDT’s recent decision to come up with a plan for a workable broadcast flag.

EFF has thrown down the gauntlet against its former ally, with some strong words of condemnation. “While we admire CDT’s tortured attempt to make the broadcast flag seem reasonable, its suggestions are flawed. That was inevitable—the broadcast flag is fundamentally flawed policy and should be scrapped entirely,” EFF wrote in a post on its site.

Another former CDT ally, Public Knowledge, has also dismissed the CDT suggestion, although in a more tempered way.
