CBS Moves YouTube Comments to Separate Page

ipvideo.jpgAs further proof that YouTube is growing up and playing nice with copyright holders is news that the video sharing giant, which struck a deal with CBS in early October, has redesigned the pages that feature the network’s videos so that user comments no longer appear directly below the video.

Instead of scrolling down to view all comments, viewers of CBS videos must go to a separate page where the comments appear. The reason? So that CBS can weed out “profane, unconstructive criticism,” according to Quincy Smith, President of CBS Interactive.

The “profane” part I get and YouTube has itself censored comments that have gone way beyond the pale. But how do you define unconstructive criticism? It sounds to me like anything that is critical of the CBS video (like, “hey man, this really sucks”) could fall into the category of “unconstructive.”
